Chaos was an evil being that controlled the Galaxy Cauldron. It also claimed to be the one who missed becoming a star. Not much is really known about Chaos, except that all the main villains Sailor Moon faced throughout the years had come from Chaos.
Sailor Moon sacrificed herself and her power to split up Chaos in the Galaxy Cauldron, it's parts became too small to be seen. Guadian Cosmos stated that Chaos could be reborn someday, which is what happens according to Sailor Cosmos. Chaos is reborn as Sailor Chaos, a very powerful being that caused another war. Sailor Cosmos had gone back in time to eliminate the Galaxy Cauldron just to stop Chaos from being reborn, but later realized that was the wrong choice.
